Our afterschool workshops combine the excitement of gaming with the power of personal growth. Each session is crafted to challenge students not just in games, but in developing essential life skills like teamwork, leadership, and resilience, ensuring growth that extends far beyond the classroom.
Step into the future of education, where gaming seamlessly integrates with life skill development. Our programs are designed to ignite perseverance, build resilience, and foster critical life skills like teamwork and communication in an engaging and supportive environment.
Led by our expert NextGen Guides, your child will receive motivational support, emotional coaching, and guidance through every challenge, whether in individual persistence or team collaboration.
Beyond program content, students will learn to set goals, embrace challenges, communicate effectively, and lead with confidence, applying these skills in both gaming and real-life scenarios.
Students will regularly earn XP (Experience Points) for demonstrating grit, teamwork, and leadership, which they can accumulate and redeem for rewards in our exclusive NextGen Academy Emporium.
At NextGen Academy, gaming and learning are seamlessly integrated throughout out workshops, equipping students with practical skills that extend well beyond after-school programs.
(Tuesdays and Thursdays, 4:00-6:00pm)
Grit Games Extravaganza: Dive into fast-paced team challenges to boost your resilience and grit.
Getting Over It Challenge: Master persistence in the ultimate test of patience and tenacity.
Portal 2 Team Play: Solve complex puzzles with teammates and parents, enhancing your teamwork skills.
Chained Together: Navigate obstacles while physically linked to others, emphasizing teamwork and perseverance.
Rubik’s Cube Resilience Challenge: Race the clock to solve the Rubik’s Cube and sharpen your problem-solving skills.
GRIT Game Relay Challenge: Conclude with a relay that tests all your newly honed skills, celebrating growth and perseverance.
(Mondays and Wednesdays, 4:00-6:00pm)
Battle Comms: Boost your team’s performance with clear, efficient, and timely in-game communication.
Squad Tactics Training: Master coordination and trust in team-based challenges with roles like leader, scout, and defender.
Lead the Charge: Step into leadership roles to make strategic decisions and manage team dynamics during missions.
PvP: Parents vs. Players Showdown: Lead your parents in “Kid vs. Parent” challenges, sharpening your leadership and communication skills.
Final Boss Battle: Compete in a mini-tournament and refine your tactics through strategic planning and reflection.
The activities highlighted here are just a glimpse of what our programs offer. Both students and parents have the unique opportunity to dive deeper into a rich array of games and challenges, all thoughtfully chosen to expand skills and push potential to new heights. On dedicated parent days, immerse yourself in your child’s learning journey, witnessing their growth in real-time and contributing directly to their development in an engaging, collaborative environment.
We’re inviting parents to join their children on specific days tailored to each workshop. This is a great opportunity to engage with your child’s learning and also to get a closer look at NextGen Academy's approach to integrating gaming with essential life skills development.
Wednesdays:
Parents can participate in the “Fortnite Command: Lead, Strategize, Communicate” sessions, where they will work alongside their children, developing communication and leadership skills together.
Thursdays:
Parents are welcome to join the “G.R.I.T. & Game Mastery” workshops, experiencing the challenges and growth opportunities firsthand as they engage in the same activities alongside their kids.
Students can enroll in one program (either A or B) or maximize their learning by enrolling in both. Double the skills development by participating in both programs, enhancing teamwork and leadership across multiple gaming platforms!
Workshops run from 4:00-6:00pm. Regular pickup is from 5:45-6:00pm. We can accommodate pickups any time between 4:00-6:00pm!
